“The recipes offered in this book are of my own creation, but they are inspired by New York City’s eclectic dining scene, as well as foodie adventures from my travels, all cradled in the arms of my beloved Haiti.
These 20 plus recipes were the soundtrack to those days of uncertainty, gratitude, hope and so many other emotions experienced during the early months of 2020.
I think we have an interesting relationship with being alone. But for me being alone provided the perfect rejuvenation. I believe it’s important to get to know yourself in quiet so you don’t lose yourself in the noise of others and the world. And the quiet of these last few months allowed me time to reflect. Was it always pretty, no? But through it all I reminisced, planned, analyzed, hoped, prayed, and learned. And these are the stories I share with you. The memories and the small experiences that taught me so much and the recipes that got me through.
Beyond a great meal, more importantly, I hope these dishes offer you the same yummy comfort through all your experiences as you embark on this beautiful journey called life; Both in moments of solitude and among the company.
